Building relationships beyond business
Tau Pele Construction has been building and rehabilitating roads for more than two decades. Established in 2004 and headquartered in Bloemfontein, the company specialises in road construction, rehabilitation and associated infrastructure, with experience spanning South Africa and the wider SADC region.
That makes the relationship between Tau Pele and PCBS a natural one.
Construction has been part of PCBS’s DNA since the company was established in 2005. Today, PCBS provides specialist guarantee and bond solutions to contractors, brokers and businesses across South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa, but personal relationships remain an important part of the way the company does business.
The Tau Pele Golf Day provided the perfect opportunity to celebrate exactly that.
PCBS supported the 2026 event by sponsoring a hole and a two-ball, as well as making a contribution towards the initiative. It continues PCBS’s involvement with the annual event following its participation in Tau Pele’s 2025 Charity Golf Day.
Team PCBS takes to the course

Representing PCBS on the fairways this year were Bonga Somhlahlo and Shaun Lavery – both of whom, fortunately, are no strangers to a golf club.
For Shaun, PCBS Executive Underwriter, the day was about far more than what happened on the scorecard.
“It was fantastic to be part of such a great day and initiative, and we thank Tau Pele for the opportunity and support. We look forward to many more golf days ahead,” he said.
Bonga, also an Executive Underwriter at PCBS, was equally enthusiastic about the experience.
“What an incredible day at the Tau Pele Golf Day! It was a perfectly organised event filled with great golf, fantastic company, awesome food and an amazing atmosphere. The environment, hospitality and attention to detail made it a truly memorable experience. Well done to the Tau Pele team for hosting such a spectacular day. We can’t wait for the next one!”
PCBS on and off the fairway

While Shaun and Bonga tackled the course, PCBS was also well represented alongside it.
Underwriting Assistant Iretha Visser and Honest Chikeya, PCBS Head of Underwriting & Reinsurance, managed the PCBS stand, giving them the chance to engage with golfers and guests throughout the day.
“It was such a pleasure being part of the Tau Pele Golf Day and managing the stand,” said Iretha. “We had a lot of fun, met some great people and really enjoyed the experience. A big thank you to Tau Pele for having us and for putting together such a fantastic day. We truly appreciate the opportunity to be part of it.”
Honest echoed the sentiment.
“It was a great experience being part of the Tau Pele Golf Day. Working alongside the team to manage the stand was a lot of fun, and it was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the day. A big thank you to Tau Pele for including us and for hosting such a fantastic event. We really appreciated being part of it.”
More than a day of golf

Events such as the Tau Pele Golf Day offer something increasingly valuable in business: the opportunity to spend time together away from emails, meetings and deadlines.
For PCBS, supporting the day was also a reflection of the company’s approach to its client relationships. With more than 20 years of specialist underwriting experience, PCBS has built its business around understanding the companies and people it works with – not simply the guarantees and bonds they require.
Getting out onto the golf course, supporting a client initiative and spending the day engaging with people from across the industry is another way of putting that philosophy into practice.

PCBS would like to thank the entire Tau Pele team for another exceptionally well-organised and enjoyable Golf Day, as well as everyone who stopped by the PCBS stand, shared a conversation or joined the team on the course.
Judging by the response from Team PCBS, there is only one question left:
When’s the next tee time?
